This is one weekend the kiteflyers and the crowds look forward to for months. I know I do.
The weather was perfect, beautiful blue skies, soft sandy beach. What more could you ask?

Once again, we were treated to all the delights of both National and International kiteflyers. Theres always something new up in the sky and there's some amazing creations. In the case of kite flyers, the sky certainly isn't the limit for the imagination.
A logistical nightmare for the organisers, but a fabulous job all around, how they manage to get the weather so good is a bit of a mystery tho.
Walking around and chatting to people, their reaction is always the same, from the adults big smiles, lots of questions and awe. From the kids, well - their facination is definitely contagious.
This year Team Kaos made their debut in the demo area and drew a big audience with their displays. Awesome flying fellas!
Sandology certainly gets around. Any guesses who was carrying the water?
The skydivers did 3 runs all together, including a night jump with flares. Great precision with the X right on target.

A few more traction kites on hand this year, which was great to see and they generated a lot of interest.
This year the Kite surfing race from Sunshine Beach went ahead on Sunday. About 60 surfers had a very fast trip along the coast and were great to watch tearing up through the surf. When I first spotted their kites, they were only little dots on the horizon and I was about to head back to base to get a drink and thought the better of it. Glad I didn't because about 10 minutes later they were arriving. I believe the winner was a 13yr old.

Thanks again to the Coolum Kite Festival Committee for all their hard work and effort bringing us all another wonderful festival. Hats off to them all.
