Emu Park Kite Festival
17th July 2007

A very good turnout of Kiteflyers for the lovely township and beach of Emu Park, we came with cars and trailers loaded with all sorts of kites to entertain and thrill.
Sadly one thing was missing - the wind!
The majority of kites never saw the light of day, but a few of us were able to put up a couple of smaller light air kites and everybit of mileage was extracted from those.
A few of the locals also attempted to fly their own kites, most of them with as much luck as the 'Professionals', but there was one bonus, the small tent in the park who was churning out Kids Kites flat stick the entire day, the beach was able to produce enough breeze to enable these to fly reasonable successfully for most of the children.

A local fellow with his lovely Chinese kite. Steve Donovan was a big drawcard, with a never ending supply of children willing to chase his kites all over the beach -All day. One of the more original entries in the Sandcastle competition. The 2 young lads were proud of their efforts, wile their mother was somewhat bemused by the boys success. Sorry Steve, not quite enough wind yet.
While we were all pretty disapointed in the lack of weather, Its fair to say that well all enjoyed the great beach, the lovely township and the even better locals who did much to make us all feel welcome.
