David Bawtree

Denotes Hi-Res Image available

When David Bawtree joined the club he started flying numerious single line kites, built using the tough ``Big W'' shopping bags and dowel. Not only that, he made sure that he retained and incorperated the ``Big W'' logo into the kite design, not cutting it out as most kite builders would.
Since his initial creations above (pre-1999), considerable development has happened to David Bawtree's kite stable. The following images give you some idea but are not a complete picture...
A 3 x 2 meter Double Conyne (French rescue/war kite). A very powerfull and stable kite requiring a lot of drag to keep it from flying to the vertical. Detachable panels between the triangular boxes allow this kite to fly in many different winds.

2.3 meter Delta kite with 3 meter multicolour ribon tails and wing streamers. The design is an original, inspired by a picture of the Christian Holy Spirit.
The ``Eternity Kite'' is a standard 2 x 1.8 meter Rokkaku kite. This is the first in a series of `parable kites', with a hidden meaning in thier decoration. Made from tyvek and traditional bamboo, with a water basied acrylic paint for colouring.
2.4x2.4 Pearson Roller. This needed specially made Aluminium dihedrals to carry the strain.
Flies in the lightest of airs, I call this one "Big Blue".

Small Pearson Roller made in 2005. Flies very steadily at a steep angle.
